Good Shepherd Catholic Church Dedicates new Education Center!

Good Shepherd Catholic Church in South Hill, VA, dedicated its new Education Center after the 9:30 Mass this past Sunday, September 20, 2015. 

The expansion/renovation project completed the Phase 3 portion of its Master Plan and included the renovation of the original Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall Wing, constructed when the church was first established at this site. 

The renovated wing serves as classroom space with new accessible bathrooms for the church's Christian Education programs. Celebrants at the dedication service included the Vicar General from the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. 

A pancake breakfast followed the ceremony in the church's Social Hall. 

Salisbury Dedicates New Education Wing at 50th Anniversary Celebration!

Rain did not dampen Salisbury Presbyterian Church's 50th Anniversary Celebration and dedication of its new Pre-School Wing addition on Saturday, April 25th, 2015.

Pastor Larry Chottiner led the gathered celebrants in the dedication ceremony. A congregational dinner for the 400 attendees followed the ceremony in the "Big Tent".

William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc has worked with the church for more than four years on the project. Century Construction served as General Contractor for the project.

Gayton Baptist Church prepares for the Grand Opening!

Gayton Baptist Church prepares for the Grand Opening of its Outreach Center in mid-September.

After several years of planning and a year of construction, the new facility will open with an exceptional array of programs and opportunities for its members and for the community.

From the multi-purpose space that houses a High School regulation size basketball court with a multi-purpose floor that can service Fellowship dinners from the full commercial kitchen, to the expansive Entry Commons that includes the Pumphouse Cafe and informal seating around a stone fireplace.

The inside Playspace provides a climbing and play structure for youngsters to exercise during inclement weather.

Tappahannock Presbyterian Church dedicated its new Worship Center!

Tappahannock Presbyterian Church dedicated its new Worship Center with a Worship Celebration for its members and special guests at 4:00 pm on September 7th. 

A bagpiper piped in the celebrants to start the dedication service followed by stanzas from the hymn "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God". 

Pastor Don McLean emphasized that the church members served as the "foundation" for the successful project's completion. 

Dinner "alfresco" followed the dedication service under a large tent adjacent to the new Sanctuary.

The Architect for the project, William Henry Harris, and Executive Presbyter Carson Rhyne of the Presbytery of the James enjoyed the Dedication Ceremonies.

Tappahannock Presbyterian Church Raises Steeple!

A new landmark will be greeting travelers heading east into Tappahannock, Virginia. Wednesday, March 19th, the new Presbyterian Church on Route 360 East at the Kino Road insersection crowned the church with a white 39-foot steeple. Made by Campbellsville Industries in Campbellsville, Kentucky, the 1,200-pound aluminum steeple was raised into position with the help of a 50-foot crane. 

Emerson Hughes - who played a guiding role in the fruition of this project - said, "This new church will serve as a source of energy for its members and visitors to live and witness for Christ in our diversified community. The glass front says the Spirit of Christ is visible to all people." He carried the cross to the top and helped to install it.

Second Mount Zion Bapitst Church Dedicates its new Sanctuary!

Second Mount Zion Baptist Church of Hanover, Virginia dedicated its new Sanctuary on Sunday, November 17th at the 3:00 PM Service. The General Contractor for the project was Century Construction.

Bethany Baptist Church Dedicates New Fellowship Hall

After 8 years of planning, praying and fundraising, Bethany Baptist  Church of Callao, Virginia dedicated its New Fellowship Hall at Homecoming Ceremonies on November 18th, 2012.

Located at 16256 Richmond Road, and designed to complement the style and character of the
existing church facility, the new 5000 square foot 230 seat facility provides fellowship space with a
new fully equipped Kitchen and Pantry. The new hall also provides multiuse fellowship, recreation
and education space, and is completely accessible for the physically handicapped. A new Covered
drop-off at the Hall's entrance provides access in inclement weather. Designed for accommodating
visiting church groups as well as community members displaced during weather disasters, the new
facility has accessible shower facilities and bathrooms. Walks, new parking and landscaping
complete the design.

Eddie Heath of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board was the guest speaker at the dedication
and additional comments were provided by Charles Overstreet, Building Committee Chairman and
William Henry Harris, the architect for the project. William Henry Harris' firm, William Henry 
Harris & Associates, Inc., has worked with more than 200 Virginia churches over the past 30
years.

The general contractor for the $500,000 project was the Norman Company, Inc. of
Mechanicsville.

St. Stephen Lutheran Church Dedicates Narthex Expansion

St. Stephen Lutheran Church of Williamsburg, Virginia dedicated its New Narthex Expansion and Sanctuary Renovation between morning services Sunday, February 19th, 2012.

St. Stephen Lutheran Church Dedicates
New Narthex Expansion and Sanctuary Renovation

(Williamsburg, VA.) St. Stephen Lutheran Church will dedicate its New
Narthex Expansion and Sanctuary Renovation between morning services this Sunday, February 19th. Located 612 Jamestown Road in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, the 1300 square foot expansion provides a new enlarged Commons gathering area with accommodations for ministry displays, fellowship coffee preparation and service, and ample storage for coats. The new Narthex is completely accessibility for the physically handicapped with ramps that lead to the existing Worship Space. The Sanctuary Renovation includes a new lighting system and refinished interior appointments. An octagonal Meditation Garden is planned adjacent to the Eastern Narthex Wing. The new brick Narthex addition complements the existing octagonal brick Sanctuary.

The general contractor for the $600,000 project is David A. Nice Builders of Williamsburg. The new expansion is Phase 3 of a multi-phased Master Plan that was designed by the Richmond architectural firm of William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc.

Monument Heights Baptist Church Dedicates New Campus Expansion Sunday

Monument Heights Baptist Church, located at 5716 Monument Avenue, dedicated its $1.5 million New Education and Welcome Center Building expansion and renovation, on Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the morning Worship service.

Designed by church architect William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc., the renovation of an existing 1951 wing resulted in a new Education building that provides additional classrooms, a welcome center and a state of the art pre-school. With an eye to the sustainable reuse of an existing structure, the Owner, Architect and General Contractor formed a team to manage the complete “gutting” of the existing building to shore up a sagging foundation. A new interior partition layout removed non-conforming corridors and stairs, replacing them with more accommodating and accessible spaces for children and adults. The plan called for re-insulating the wing, new energy efficient heating and cooling systems, new energy efficient windows and doors, new accessible bathrooms and an exterior “face-lift” to complement the existing Sanctuary. The renovation provided more square footage for less cost than a previously planned new building to replace the existing 1951 structure.

“We are thrilled with the final result,” wrote Senior Pastor Randy Clipp, and he added, “You should see the place furnished – wow!”

A new covered drop-off allows grade access during inclement weather through a new entry Commons. Site work included additional parking spaces, landscaping and access walks.

The exterior finishes of the renovated facility match the traditional style of the existing church campus, providing a unified appearance to the whole complex. Construction of the 14,000 square foot project was completed in August of 2011.
The general contractor for the project was Century Construction Co., Inc. of Richmond.
