Grace United Methodist Church Breaks Ground!

Historic Grace United Methodist Church, near Hartwood, Virginia broke ground for its first major expansion since 1949 in a celebration held at the church on Sunday, July 26th, 2015. Founded in 1885, the current church building replaced the original church in 1927.

The proposed new 5000 square foot multi-purpose facility will house church offices, classrooms and a fellowship hall with modern kitchen.

William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc. designed the new facility and the Dominion Construction Group of Warrenton is providing construction services for the $800,000.00 project.

Providence Baptist Church Breaks Ground!

In a ceremony on Sunday, July 19, 2015, Providence Baptist Church in Hayes, VA broke ground for their new Phase 1 Fellowship Center expansion. Architect William Henry Harris & Associates joined JH Batten General Contractors from Walkerton, North Carolina as a Design/Build Team for the project.

Both firms are members of the National Association of Church Design Builders - NACDB, an organization dedicated to providing the highest caliber of service to the Mid -Atlantic Region and its religious community.

The new Fellowship Center will double the size of the church's seating capacity for fellowship events. It will also include a new Commercial Kitchen and handicapped accessible bathrooms and showers. A new entry Commons and covered drop-off will enhance the access from the parking lot, and additional parking and landscaping will complete the design.

Future Phases will include a Multi-Purpose Outreach Center and additional classrooms for Christian Education.

Good Shepherd Catholic Church Breaks Ground!

Good Shepherd Catholic Church in South Hill, VA, broke ground on February 2, 2015, for Phase 3 of their multi-phase expansion/renovation  project.  The Phase 3 portion of their Master Plan includes the renovation of their original Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall wing, constructed when the church was first established at this site. 

The renovated wing will include new classroom space and new accessible bathrooms for the church's Christian Education programs with a special focus on its Spanish-speaking members.  New heating and air-conditioning systems will be part of the project upgrades along with a new sacristy and office for the parish priest.

The $350,000 project is scheduled to be complete by mid-June of this year.

Salem Baptist Church

An inspiring new beginning to construction at Salem Baptist Church for the new 26,000 square foot Worship Center on Route 250 in Goochland, Virginia. 

The church is using a pre-engineered building system with church members and volunteer Christian builders providing the labor for the project. When complete, the facility will house Worship, Fellowship, Recreation and Educational facilities.  

Williamsburg 7th Day Adventist Breaks Ground!

Members of the Williamsburg 7th Day Adventist Church broke ground on December 17th, 2013, after many prayers and almost 15 years of planning with William Henry Harris & Associates.  Elder Jay Berryman (red shirt), who lead the church through the years, thanked the Almighty for bringing the project to this place just in time for Christmas.

Salisbury Presbyterian Church Breaks ground for a new Education Wing Expansion

Salisbury Presbyterian Church located at 13621 West Salisbury Road, Midlothian, VA, broke ground for a new Pre-School Wing addition on Sunday, September 8th, 2013, following worship services.  The new addition will provide a 2 story, 16,000 square foot state of the art educational facility for the church's successful pre-school program.

The expansion project includes 14 new classrooms, 8 of which are designed to provide pre-school specific spaces for the successful pre-school program.  Offices and storage space will support the new wing and security features will add an enhanced level of safety for the youngsters in the program.

The project will also include the complete renovation of the church's Administration wing and access corridor to the existing sanctuary,  including new carpet as well as new wall and ceiling finishes.  New lighting, data, and audio/visual systems will be added to complete the renovation.  The new Pre-school and Administration wings will be completely accessible to the physically handicapped.   New parking, landscaping and access drives will complete the project.

The $2.5 million project was designed by Richmond church architect, William Henry Harris, whose firm, William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc. has worked with more than 200 Virginia churches over the past 30 years. The general contractor for the project is CenturyConstruction, Inc. of Richmond.  The project is slated for completion by June of 2014.  

Salisbury Presbyterian Church to Break Ground!

Salisbury Presbyterian Church will break ground for a new Pre-School Wing addition on Sunday, September 8th, 2013, following worship services.  The new $2,500,000 addition will provide a 2 story 16,000 square foot state of the art educational facility for the church's successful pre-school program.

William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc. has worked with the church for more than three years on the project.

Century Construction will act as General Contractor for the project.

Tappahannock Presbyterian Church breaks ground for a new Sanctuary!

Located at the intersection of Route 360 and Kino Road (State Route 619), Tappahannock Presbyterian Church broke ground for a new Sanctuary after services Sunday, June 16, 2013.

The 5200 square foot facility will provide new Worship space for 106 initially, but can be expanded to 150 in the future. The multi-purpose center will also include offices, classrooms, a nursery and fellowship space with a Kitchen and Pantry. 

The new Worship Center will be completely accessible for the physically handicapped and is Phase 1 of a multi-phased facility to be located at the Route 360 site across from Chandler Chevrolet. Walks, new parking and landscaping complete the design.

The project was designed by local church architect, William Henry Harris, whose firm, William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc. has worked with more than 200 Virginia churches over the past 30 years. They recently completed the new Bethany Baptist Church expansion in Callao.

The general contractor for the $900,000 project is the Norman Company, Inc. of Mechanicsville. The project is slated for completion by the early Spring of 2014.

Gayton Baptist Church To Break Ground For A New Outreach Center

            (Henrico, VA)  On Sunday, April 28, 2013, the congregation of Gayton Baptist Church located at 13501 North Gayton Road, Henrico, VA will break ground for their new 30,000 square foot Outreach Center. The new expansion includes state of the art performance, education and recreation facilities including on a lower level a multi-purpose area with stage for performing arts, fellowship dinners, church conferences and a full size basketball court for church league basketball and other recreational activities.  A full commercial kitchen serves this area and bathrooms with showers and locker rooms complete the lower level of the facility.  The upper entry level includes gathering spaces for informal fellowship activities served by a coffee bar with two sided fireplace and light food service cafe. A children's area called the "Play Place" is located adjacent to coffee bar allowing parents to fellowship or attend meetings while youngsters are actively engaged on climbing structures.  A large lobby with information desk, video screens and informal seating welcomes church members and guests to the many activities offered by the church.  All areas are accessible to the physically challenged.  Multi-purpose classrooms on both levels complete the exciting new center.

The general contractor for the $5,000,000 project is Taylor & Parrish, Inc.of Richmond.  The project is slated for completion by Summer of 2014.

Mathews Baptist Church Groundbreaking!

Mathews Baptist Church has broken ground for new Renovation Project!

(Hudgins, VA) Located at 8284 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews Baptist Church has broken ground for Phase 1 of a Master Plan put in place a year ago for the historic Mathews County church. The 1000 square foot Phase 1 renovation project will provide new modern bathrooms in the existing Education wing as well as in the existing historic Sanctuary building. Offices will be relocated from the Sanctuary building to larger accommodations in the Education wing, and the existing heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for the Education wing will be renovated to provide better heating and cooling. New lighting and finishes will complete the renovation in the existing lower level of the education building, and the new restrooms will be completely accessible for the physically handicapped. Future Phases include additional Sunday school classrooms, offices and gathering areas designed to complement the style and character of the existing historic church facility.

The Master Plan and Phase 1 project was designed by local church architect, William Henry Harris, whose firm, William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc. has worked with more than 200 Virginia churches over the past 30 years. They recently completed the new Sanctuary addition for the Catholic Church of the Visitation near Topping, Virginia.

The general contractor for the $80,000 project is Morse Enterprises of Mathews. The project is slated for completion by mid-October of 2012.

Bethany Baptist Church Breaks Ground!

Bethany Baptist Church has broken ground for a new Fellowship Hall

            (Callao, VA) Located at 16256 Richmond Road, Bethany Baptist Church has broken ground for a new 230 seat Fellowship Hall, designed to complement the style and character of the existing church facility. The new 5000 square foot facility will provide fellowship space with a new fully equipped Kitchen and Pantry. The new hall will also provide multiuse fellowship, recreation and education space, and it will be completely accessible for the physically handicapped.  A new Covered drop-off at the Hall's entrance will provide access in inclement weather.  Walks, new parking and landscaping complete the design.

The project was designed by church architect, William Henry Harris, whose firm, William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc. has worked with more than 200 Virginia churches over the past 30 years. The Georgian style design employs traditional finishes and accents to complement the existing church facility. 

The general contractor for the $500,000 project is the Norman Company, Inc. of Mechanicsville.  The project is slated for completion by Christmas of 2012.

Beulah Baptist Church Breaks Ground!

Breaks ground for a

New Portico and 2-Story Narthex Addition

            (Aylett, VA.) Beulah Baptist Church broke ground for a New Portico and 2-Story Narthex Addition on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012.  Located on Route 600, just 6 miles Northwest of Aylett in King William County, Virginia, the 1600 square foot expansion will provide a new Commons gathering area, accessible bathroom facilities for men and women, and ample storage for coats.  The second level will provide multi-purpose space for worship overflow and bible study, as well as bathroom facilities.  The new addition is completely accessible for the physically handicapped and includes enhanced exterior and interior lighting.  The new Narthex addition, with a Georgian style columned portico and Flemish Bond brick coursing, will complement the existing historic 1846 brick sanctuary that replaced the original frame church sanctuary that was built shortly after the church was constituted in 1812.

The general contractor for the $280,000 project is the Norman Company Inc. General Contractors of Mechanicsville.  The new expansion has been designed by the Richmond architectural firm of William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc.  The project is slated for completion by the fall of 2012.

St. Stephen Lutheran Church breaks ground for New Narthex Expansion and Sanctuary Renovation

St. Stephen Lutheran Church broke ground for a New Narthex Expansion and Sanctuary Renovation in early June. Located 612 Jamestown Road in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, the 1300 square foot expansion will provide a new enlarged Commons gathering area with accommodations for ministry displays, fellowship coffee preparation and service, and ample storage for coats. The new Narthex is completely accessibility for the physically handicapped with ramps that lead to the existing Worship Space. The Sanctuary Renovation includes a new lighting system and refinished interior appointments. An octagonal Meditation Garden is planned adjacent to the Eastern Narthex Wing. The new painted brick Narthex addition will complement the existing octagonal brick Sanctuary.

The general contractor for the $500,000 project is David A. Nice Builders of Williamsburg. The new expansion is Phase 3 of a multi-phased Master Plan that has been designed by the Richmond architectural firm of William Henry Harris & Associates, Inc. The project is slated for completion by the fall of 2011.
